BUTCHER AND BAKER
MURDERS LINKED
TO LOCAL ORGANIZED CRIME?
Local butcher, Clancy O’Brian, was found dead in his shop
yesterday. It was reported that he was into Louis Donahue, alias “Lucky
Louie”, a Belmont Park bookie, for a sum reported to be in excess of
ten thousand dollars. In a related story Herman Miller, also a local
business man, proprietor of Miller’s Bakery, was found murdered late
last night at his bakery when he failed to return home. He was also
allegedly reported to be into “Lucky Louie” for a large sum of money.
Authorities are looking into the possible connection between these two
men and their connection with organized crime. Local authorities are
also presently looking for Louis Donahue for questioning.
“The Butcher, The Baker,
The Belmont Bookmaker” is a Murder Mystery which will be played out
during the course of the weekend for our members to solve. Each of the
following “Players” will have important information for the members to
base their investigation on and all are considered suspects except Joey
Sebrinski and Rosie O’Grady. The first person to solve the crime will
receive two memberships for FantaSciCon ’09. All solutions, which
should include the name of the culprit, motive and the time it was
handed in, must be turned in before the Start of Feast Saturday at
6:00PM. The final act will be played out just before the start of the
Slave Auction. We also need volunteers to play the characters on the
“Players” list. The names highlighted in green are already taken.
Volunteers will receive a character sheet with full background on their
player. Players will also be eligible to join in the play and try to
solve the crime as I am the only one who will know the outcome until
Feast, Saturday night. Anyone wishing to play one of the characters
please contact me at our e-mail address and let me know which one you
would like.
Come on folks, to make this work we need volunteers to play the parts
of "Rosie O'Grady" and at least one more of the "Two Bit Hustlers".

Costuming Tips
For
Character costuming ideas check out some of the older movies such as
“The Roaring Twenties” or “Angels with Dirty Faces” with Humphrey
Bogart and James Cagney. For a newer movie try “The Sting” with Paul
Newman and Robert Redford.
A good place to find costume pieces are the resale
shops. I have recently picked up a good selection of suites, double and
single breasted, pinstriped with wide lapels at the local resale
shops, Goodwill and the local flea market for any where from $5 to $25.
You should also be able to find wing tipped oxford shoes at a greatly
reduced price. I am also putting together a rack of donated
loaner suites. I will be posting what I have and sizes shortly.
