FantaSciCon
First Annual
Spacial Olympics
We, at FantaSciCon, always strive to follow the paths less taken by
other conventions and this year is no exception. We have two new
events, this year, for our members’ enjoyment.
Our first item is “The First Annual FantaSciCon
Spacial Olympics”. Our Olympics will host the most outrageous sporting
events you can imagine. At this time the events include:
Event #1 “Discus Throw” - The Discus will be six
feet in diameter made from styrofoam and will be thrown into the wind.
Event #2 “10 Yard Dash” - Thirty feet may not seem
like much distance to cover, however, the contestants must keep a
“Hoola-Hoop” up and in motion the entire distance without using their
hands. A dropped hoop is not a disqualification, however you will have
to re-start from the starting line.
Event #3 “Shooting Competition” - This one could get
a bit harry as the contestants will be competing in two man teams, one
shooter and one catcher. However, there will be no danger as the weapon
of choice is a sling shot with the ammo being marshmallows. Oh, by the
way, the catcher has to catch the marshmallow in his mouth. The team
transferring the most marshmallows in ten minutes will win this event.
Marshmallows accidently eaten will not count to the team’s total.
Event #4 “Drag Race” - Yes, folks, we will have a
Drag Race around the motel. Three man teams will compete in this relay
race. The trick to this one is it’s a “Drag” race. Contestants will be
dressed in drag, complete with dress, purse and parasol. (For the
ladies we have suits, umbrellas and attache’ cases.) The contestants
must run their leg of the race, strip out of the drag attire for their
next team member to don before resuming the run.
In the events that require 2 or 3 man teams each
member of the winning team will earn points to add
to their personal total.
We are working on several other events if we can aquire the needed
sports equipment, such as a “Jousting Tournament”. (For this one we
need swimming pool noodles, balloons and stick horses. >g<) Check
back for added events and other specifics.
